5 WAYS TO NAIL YOUR POLO OUTFIT

Last weekend’s annual lavish seaside Portsea Polo event was an event not be missed and, as per usual, there were plenty of perfectly polo-esque off-field fashion moments. We’ve rounded up the best of the best from some super stylish attendees & detail exactly how you can nail your next polo outfit…

1. Accessorise with a statement piece…

Don’t overdo it, pick just one key piece to add a touch of wow to your look. Think a patterned scarf, a statement clutch or an oversized ribbon to complete your outfit. Remember the polo is a super casual affair so the key is to keep it simple,so just pick one!

2. Lace is always a good idea…

The polo is the epitome of summer style meets garden-party chic so naturally lace is always a winner off-field. Avoid overly-structured or tight fitting lace numbers, keep it easy & breezy with plenty of room to move (so you can stomp the divots half time ala Pretty Woman!)

3. Provide your own shade for the day…

Invest in an oversized hat such as a straw boater, or even a delicate parasol to keep yourself cool under the searing summer sun. This would be my number one must-have for any polo outfit.

4. Show a little skin…

Unlike the races, the polo is a beachy, super casual affair so it’s totally acceptable to show off a little skin. Think bare midriffs, off-the-shoulder blouses, an embroidered mini skirt or a backless number. And remember, its all about moderation (& you’re not actually at the beach), so decide on area to expose, no more!

5. Wear appropriate footwear…

You’ll be stomping divots at half time, crossing the field between plays and (most importantly) making numerous trips to the nearest bar so your choice of footwear is imperative. Leave your stilettos at home & opt for wedges, espadrilles or block heels so you can safely navigate on the grass.

So there you have it, five super simple tips to help you plan your next polo outing down to a tee. And to help you along I’ve rounded up some of my fave polo pieces below… x

  1. Hey Lisa, I would be really interested on that white pleated skirt. The one with the Gucci bag. Any idea what brand is it?
Thank You for always answering my questions 🙂
