THE DERBY DAY FASHION ROUND-UP 2017

Kicking off the iconic Melbourne Cup Carnival with the first race day of the week is, for those who don’t know, a traditionally black & white affair in the dressing stakes. This year’s Derby Day fashion choices did not disappoint with plenty of detailed embellishments, feminine lace & statement headwear on show. Here’s some of the best from the track…

There were plenty of fresh trends that debuted this racing season including the humble beret, which is adding a touch of French flair to the track. Do we like it? Oui oui!! There were also some great statement boaters floating around, including some stunning oversized designs that were super chic. Again, the off the shoulder trend is definitely here to stay & delicate lace dresses were out in girly force. Lace is always always  a great choice for the races. To top it all off, the tiled floor design in the Lavazza Marquee was a decor dream &. the perfect monochromatic Derby Day backdrop.

As for myself, I stuck with tradition (& warmth) in this black and white double-breasted power suit by C/meo Collective & pointed pumps by Tony Bianco. Not wanting to play into the wind’s unpredictable hands, I kept things simple with a textured topknot, cat-eyed sunglasses & an oversized black ribbon to complete the look. What do you think? I had so many beautiful comments & messages on the day, so thank you to all who said they loved it!

Now with Derby Day done, it’s time to turn our attention to the next race day, Melbourne Cup where the theme for the day is bold colours and standout frocks.
